The Safe Streets Project is Official!

We have done it! The City of Johannesburg has officially issued an interim decision on the Safe Streets Project! After a massive collaborative effort across Melville (East), Auckland Park North, and Richmond, our collective vision for a safer neighborhood is becoming a reality. We are moving forward immediately to turn this approval into action.

The Initiative

Initially a project of the Melville Residents’ Association, the MSI was founded in 2009 with its primary goal of maintaining & implementing security solutions for the safety and security of the Melville community. The Initiative is managed by residents of Melville.

The Project

The Melville Security Initiative identified traffic flow control solutions with the aim of calming traffic and reducing crime as further levers that could be considered by the community.
